Overall this week of diving at Cocos was one of the best of the year so far, with countless hammerheads, BIG schools of bigeye jacks, many Galapagos sharks and enormous tiger sharks all around the island!
Now for the trip highlights:
There was an incredible amount of life all trip long around Dirty Rock! Dizzying schools of bigeye jacks, and not to mention schools of hammerheads numbering upwards of 200+ individuals. The weather was often rainy, but we didn’t care at all since the diving was so amazing the only place we wanted to be was underwater! The hot dive spots this week were Manuelita and Dirty Rock, which never let us down. We saw a huge sea turtle at Manuelita Outside, and three Cocos rosy-lipped batfish at about 90ft/27m. At Alcyone, we were lucky to encounter a baitball that attracted Galapagos sharks and tunas, and we were able to watch them hunt with impressive stealth and speed. Even our afternoon dives were action packed with big pelagic animals, and on one our favorite dives at Viking Rock a tiger shark made 4 different passes checking out our divers from about
